Homemade Face Scrub


Consider Your Skin Type

 for face eliminate many of the risks for facials, but when making your own homemade face scrub, it is important to consider your skin type. Are you prone to oily skin? Do you have acne to battle? Using the wrong scrub can worsen a skin’s condition, and overuse of facial scrubs can lead to irritation. Normal or dry skin types should limit use of homemade facial scrubs to once per week, though those with oily skin may benefit from using a scrub 2-3 times per week.

Preparations

A homemade facial scrub should be applied to your face after it has already been cleaned with a gentle soap or cleanser. It is also recommended that you “steam” your face before applying a facial scrub. Moisten a towel with hot water, and wring out the excess water. Drape towel over your face, and leave it until the heat has dissipated, about four to five minutes.

Ready to Scrub

Now your skin is clean, your pores are open, and you are ready to scrub! Using your fingertips, work the scrub in small circles over your face and neck. Allow the facial scrub to sit for ten to fifteen minutes before rinsing with warm water.




Homemade Face Scrub For Acne

Honey, sea salt, orange peel, uncoated aspirin and oatmeal are all ingredients commonly used in  for acne affected skin. You can simply moisten some sea salt with water, and scrub your face with that. If you’re seeking a little luxury, you can indulge in an oatmeal sugar scrub by simply combining the following ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon rolled oats, ground in coffee grinder or food processor
  • 1 tablespoon aloe Vera
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice

Homemade Face Scrub For Blackheads

Ground nuts, black pepper, baking soda, basil and green tea all make excellent black head facial scrubs. You can make a paste that will peel like blackhead-banishing pore strips with 1 tablespoon of unflavored gelatin and one and a half tablespoons of milk. After microwaving for ten seconds, stir together and apply to the face in the areas that are prone to blackheads. It should dry completely in thirty minutes, and then can be peeled just as a strip would be. A simple homemade face scrub for blackheads consists simply of:
  • 1 green tea bag, ground in food processor
  • 1 tablespoon plain yogurt

Homemade Face Scrub For Oily Skin

Egg whites, clay, lemon juice, and bananas are all found in numerous oily skin facial recipes. A simple method for cleansing oil from the skin without over-drying it is to smooth unflavored milk of magnesia to the face. Rinse clean after ten minutes. The following recipe is a homemade face scrub for oily skin types:
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon sea salt

Homemade Face Scrub For Dry Skin

Yogurt, olive oil, egg yolks, avocado, mayonnaise and buttermilk all nourish the face with natural moisture. Simply smoothing a mashed avocado over the face will improve the look and feel of dry skin without making it oily. For a more indulgent facial scrub, try the following  for dry skin recipe:
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil

Homemade Face Scrub Sugar

Sugar scrubs are gaining popularity because the gentle buffing of sugar granules results in exceptionally soft, glowing skin. Sugar scrubs are suitable for all skin types. Sugar can be simply moistened with water for use as a scrub. This recipe is a basic homemade scrub for face using both brown and white sugars:
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon granulated white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1-2 drops pure vanilla extract
